Transportation to Airport from Lima City Center

If you want to get to the airport by using one of the means of public transportation, you can use the airport shuttle services. For a more comfortable transportation, you can use get on a taxi or rent a car.

The transportation of those coming to the city with a tour company is enabled by private buses. In addition, if your hotel offers airport shuttle service, you can get to the airport from the city center in a very comfortable and easy way.

Taxi

Taxi is not a very safe option throughout Lima. If you are planning to use a taxi for your transportation, you can ask for help from your hotel about finding a reliable taxi for you. In addition, you can call a taxi by using the applications that you can download on your smart phone. The both methods are safer than getting on a taxi on a street.

The travel to the airport from the city center by taxi lasts about half an hour. There are no taximeters in the taxis and the fares are predetermined according to the regions. However, you should bargain with the driver and agree on the fare before getting on.

Car Rental

If you want to rent a car for travelling in the city or just for getting to the airport, you can get help from your hotel about this issue. In the city center, there are also the offices of many car rental companies. When driving, you should keep in mind that traffic can be quite heavy throughout Lima.

If you are traveling to Lima with a tour company, you can reach the airport by using the private buses of this company.

Airport Information

In Lima, tourists generally prefer to stay in Miraflores region. This region is located 17 km of the airport. The distance between the airport and the historical city center is 11 kilometers. A shopping center called Peru Plaza Shopping Center and a 4-star hotel called Ramada Costa del Sol are parts of the airport complex.

There is an application center for tourists at the arrival terminal where international flights are performed. In this center, you can get your guide and map for your transportation, obtain information regarding safety and even demand help for finding a hotel or a taxi for you.

There are many cafes and restaurants at Jorge Chaves International Airport which was chosen as the best airport of South America in 2010 and 2012. Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta Intl. Airport

Atlanta is an important junction point of land, air, and rail transportation in the United States. It is also an important commercial and industrial city, where many international companies are headquartered in. Atlanta is also an important crossroads for international air travel. The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, also known as Atlanta Airport, is the world’s busiest airport according to passenger traffic and it was ranked the world’s busiest airport according to the number of landings and takeoffs for several years. Located about 13 km from the city center, the airport is easily accessible by a variety of transportation alternatives.

Metro

The city has a very developed metro line that connects directly to the airport. The MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) metro station is located in the main terminal building. The red and gold lines run directly from the airport to the main stops in the city’s commercial center, such as Five Points, Civic Center, and Peachtree. The metro runs every 15 minutes and travels to the city center in about 15-17 minutes. From the Five Points station you can transfer to the green or blue line, which provide access to other important parts of the city.  

Airport Buses

There are shuttles and airport buses that provide transportation to the city center from the airport. There is a shuttle service that provides transportation between the airport and various hotels and another shuttle service that provides transportation between the airport and the city center and commercial center. Buses are located in between the south and north domestic terminals in the Green Zone. Buses to Five Points only take 15 minutes. These buses depart every 30 minutes and reservations are required.

Taxi

Another transportation alternative to get to the city center is by taxi, especially when you consider how short that distance is. Taxis run on a fixed rate to major areas in the city center. Taxis are located in the Yellow Bus aisle, just outside the baggage claim area. For a more luxurious ride to the city center there are over 300 companies that provide limousine transportation to the city center. You must make a reservation for this service beforehand.

Rental Car

As the world’s busiest airport, Atlanta Airport offers a rich variety of rental car companies to choose from. There are 13 rental car companies located at the airport, offering a fleet of hundreds of vehicles. To get to the city center from the airport by car connect to the I-85 N from the Terminal Parkway. This freeway will take you to the city center.
