Transportation to Airport from Los Angeles City Center

Los Angeles Intl. Airport

The most practical transportation alternative to get to Los Angeles International airport from the city center is by using the FlyAway buses. These buses depart from Union Station and get to the airport in about 40 minutes. When there is traffic or during rush hour that travel time can vary significantly. FlyAway buses depart every 30 minutes and you don’t need to reserve a spot beforehand. We recommend checking the traffic conditions and figuring out what time you need to be at the airport beforehand.

The FlyAway buses operate between the following locations and the airport, Van Nuys (San Fernando Valley) Union Station (Downtown Los Angeles), Westwood (West Los Angeles/UCLA), Santa Monica, Hollywood, Orange Line, and Long Beach. Separate buses depart from these locations to the airport. You can buy your bus ticket on board using a credit card.

Passengers can also take the Green Line to the airport, which stops at the metro Green Line Aviation Station. From that station there are free shuttle bus services to the airport. The Green Line operates between Redondo Beach and Norwalk. After you get to the Green Line Aviation Station you can get on the LAX Shuttle “G” line, which will take you to the terminals.  

There are various buses that you can take from different locations in the city to get to Los Angeles International Airport. From Santa Monica you can take the Big Blue Bus R3 line, from Sylmar Metrolink Station you can take LADOT Commuter Express line 574, from Redondo Beach you can take LADOT line 438, and from Torrance you can take Torrance Transit Bus T8.

There are 9 terminals at the airport. 8 of those 9 terminals are numbered, such as Terminal 1, Terminal 2, etc. The international terminal at LAX is the Tom Bradley International Terminal. The Tom Bradley International Terminal operates a large number of international flights. Los Angeles International Airport offers a wide variety of venues when it comes to eating and drinking and shopping. If you are flying out of Tom Bradley International Terminal and want to grab a bite to eat you can dine at places like the Daily Grill, El Paseo, McDonald’s, Marina Bar, Sushi Boy, Starbucks, Pinkberry, 800 Degrees Pizza, and more. This terminal also has many boutiques such as Burberry, DFS Duty Free, Gucci, Hermes, Michael Kors, Emporio Armani, and Victoria’s Secret. The terminal also contains many Duty Free shops. The Tom Bradley International Terminal is the terminal that features the widest variety of restaurants, cafes, bars, and stores. It is also the terminal that contains the most lounges. Some of the lounges located in the terminal include the Star Alliance Lounge, Sky Team Alliance Lounge, Oneworld Alliance Lounge, ElAl King David Lounge and Relax Lounge. If you want to use the internet at the airport you can do so for a certain fee. You can connect for an unlimited daily or unlimited monthly fee or hourly fee.

Transportation to Atlanta City Center from Airport

Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta Intl. Airport

Atlanta is an important junction point of land, air, and rail transportation in the United States. It is also an important commercial and industrial city, where many international companies are headquartered in. Atlanta is also an important crossroads for international air travel. The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, also known as Atlanta Airport, is the world’s busiest airport according to passenger traffic and it was ranked the world’s busiest airport according to the number of landings and takeoffs for several years. Located about 13 km from the city center, the airport is easily accessible by a variety of transportation alternatives.

Metro

The city has a very developed metro line that connects directly to the airport. The MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) metro station is located in the main terminal building. The red and gold lines run directly from the airport to the main stops in the city’s commercial center, such as Five Points, Civic Center, and Peachtree. The metro runs every 15 minutes and travels to the city center in about 15-17 minutes. From the Five Points station you can transfer to the green or blue line, which provide access to other important parts of the city.  

Airport Buses

There are shuttles and airport buses that provide transportation to the city center from the airport. There is a shuttle service that provides transportation between the airport and various hotels and another shuttle service that provides transportation between the airport and the city center and commercial center. Buses are located in between the south and north domestic terminals in the Green Zone. Buses to Five Points only take 15 minutes. These buses depart every 30 minutes and reservations are required.

Taxi

Another transportation alternative to get to the city center is by taxi, especially when you consider how short that distance is. Taxis run on a fixed rate to major areas in the city center. Taxis are located in the Yellow Bus aisle, just outside the baggage claim area. For a more luxurious ride to the city center there are over 300 companies that provide limousine transportation to the city center. You must make a reservation for this service beforehand.

Rental Car

As the world’s busiest airport, Atlanta Airport offers a rich variety of rental car companies to choose from. There are 13 rental car companies located at the airport, offering a fleet of hundreds of vehicles. To get to the city center from the airport by car connect to the I-85 N from the Terminal Parkway. This freeway will take you to the city center.
