Transportation to Airport from Baku City Center

Heydar Aliyev Intl. Airport

Located along the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan’s capital Baku is a rising star in the East gaining notoriety for its oil, gas, and caviar. Baku is a city that attracts the attention people migrating from Asia and other countries in the region, and businessmen from all around the world. The city’s only airport is the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, named after the National Leader and third President of Azerbaijan. The airport serves 5 million passengers annually.

You can get to the airport, which is located 25 km away, from the city center by car or a combination of the metro and airport buses.

Airport Buses

The easiest and cheapest way to get to the airport from the city center is by airport bus. Bus line 116 departs from Vurgun Park, located in central Baku, and takes about 50 minutes to get to the airport.

Metro

The metro system in Baku provides transportation to many central locations in the city like the Old City, 28 May Street, and the Caspian Sea. However, to get to the airport from the city center you have to first take the metro and then get on a bus. From central locations in the city like the Old City, Cafer Cabbari, and Khatai you can take the metro to the 28 May and Koroglu stations. From here you can get on bus line 116, which runs to the airport or take a taxi to the airport.   

Personal Car

Since the city is rich in oil, fuel is cheap, making traveling by car a very attractive option. Getting to the city center from the airport is very easy. One of the city’s most important avenues, Heydar Aliyev Avenue will connect you to the Boyuk Shor Highway, which goes to the airport. From the highway take the Airport exit. The airport contains indoor and outdoor parking lots where you can park your personal car for a certain fee.

Located 20 km from Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, Skopje Airport, also known as Skopje “Alexander the Great Airport”, has the distinction of being one of the two largest and busiest airports in the country. Located in the village of Petrovec, about 20 km from central Skopje, Skopje Airport has been serving domestic and international air travel since 2011. Skopje Airport is set to become the main transit and cargo hub in the Balkans. There are many transportation methods available to get to the city center from the airport.

You can access the city center from Skopje Airport using the highway by taxi, bus, or rental car. Urban transportation within the city is advanced and well-organized, making Skopje easy to navigate.

Taxi

The fastest and most convenient way to get to the city center from Skopje “Alexander the Great” Airport is by taxi. Taxis are available every day of the week at every hour of the day. Although there is no need to make a reservation before hand, if you are a large group you do need to let them know in advance by telephone or email. Taking a taxi to the city center from the airport takes about 20 minutes. Taxis are located at the airport exit.  

Bus

Another mode of transportation to get to the city center from Skopje “Alexander the Great” Airport is by bus. Buses that provide transportation from the airport to the city center are very affordable and get to the city center in about 30 minutes. Rental Cars

Another transportation method you can consider is renting a car. There are many rental car offices located in the Skopje Airport. You can either hire a driver to drive you to the city center or drive the rental car yourselves. Rental car agencies to choose from include Avis, Dttu Sharr Express, Europcar, Hertz, Enterprise, Interways, Mi-Da, Sixt, Ace, Toto-Rent, Bejron Dooel and Interrent.
