Transportation to Airport from Bakü City Center

Located along the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan’s capital Baku is a rising star in the East gaining notoriety for its oil, gas, and caviar. Baku is a city that attracts the attention people migrating from Asia and other countries in the region, and businessmen from all around the world. The city’s only airport is the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, named after the National Leader and third President of Azerbaijan. The airport serves 5 million passengers annually.

You can get to the airport, which is located 25 km away, from the city center by car or a combination of the metro and airport buses.

Airport Buses

The easiest and cheapest way to get to the airport from the city center is by airport bus. Bus line 116 departs from Vurgun Park, located in central Baku, and takes about 50 minutes to get to the airport.

Metro

The metro system in Baku provides transportation to many central locations in the city like the Old City, 28 May Street, and the Caspian Sea. However, to get to the airport from the city center you have to first take the metro and then get on a bus. From central locations in the city like the Old City, Cafer Cabbari, and Khatai you can take the metro to the 28 May and Koroglu stations. From here you can get on bus line 116, which runs to the airport or take a taxi to the airport.   

Personal Car

Since the city is rich in oil, fuel is cheap, making traveling by car a very attractive option. Getting to the city center from the airport is very easy. One of the city’s most important avenues, Heydar Aliyev Avenue will connect you to the Boyuk Shor Highway, which goes to the airport. From the highway take the Airport exit. The airport contains indoor and outdoor parking lots where you can park your personal car for a certain fee.

Airport Information

Although it is not very large Heydar Aliyev International Airport is an important junction, especially for passengers traveling between Europe and Asia. The airport offers passengers a variety of eating, drinking, and shopping venues.

The airport has 2 terminals, Terminal 1, which was completely renovated, and Terminal 2, which serves domestic flights. The airport contains world famous fast food chains like Burger King, McDonald’s, and KFC, as well as restaurants that offer delicious flavors unique to Azerbaijani cuisine.

The international terminal has a large Duty Free shop as well as souvenir shops where you can buy items unique to Russian and Azeri culture. The airport features free wireless internet connection. 

Transportation to Malabo City Center from Airport

Malabo International Airport

Malabo International Airport is about 9 kilometers from the city center. Passengers arriving at the airport can travel to the city center in about 15 minutes by taxi and other vehicles. Malabo International Airport offers direct flights to Paris the capital of France, and cities such as Addis Ababa, Madrid, Casablanca and Frankfurt.

Finding a taxi at the airport can be a bit difficult. Non-offical taxis in the region also operate and it is not easy to distinguish between them. At Malabo International Airport rental cars and private services can only be used by passengers who have booked in advance. Please remember that if you plan to use the services of hotels located in the city center for your transfer from the airport, you will need to book the service shuttle vehicles in advance.

Taxi

Malabo is the the capital of Equatorial Guinea and also one of the largest cities and you can choose to take a taxi from the airport to the center. It is not always possible to find a taxi at the Malabo International Airport which is about 10 kilometers from the center. Therefore after leaving the airport terminal, you should check if there is a taxi first and if you do not see one, if you walk out to the road you can take a taxi from there. In the region you can see both official and non-official taxis. For a safer and more economical traveler, you should choose official taxis. If you have trouble finding a taxi at the airport, you can ask at the information desk in Malabo International Airport to call a taxi.

Rent a Car

It is possible to travel to the city center with one of the rental cars from Malabo International Airport. Passengers who want to rent a car in the area may call the rental car companies near Malabo and nearby and make a reservation. From Malabo International Airport to the center in a rental car the journey takes 10-15 minutes. You can use your rental car to travel to many destinations in and around Malabo city center. You can also rent a car from the rental offices in Malabo city center and at the end of your trip leave the car back at the office.

Hotel Services

Hotel services can also be preferred by passengers traveling from Malabo International Airport to the center. Also guests staying in some hotels can use the hotel shuttle service free of charge, thus reducing travel expenses for passengers. By using the hotel shuttle service you can bring your luggage comfortably and the journey time is about 10 minutes from Malabo International Airport to the center. Passenegers wishing to use the hotel shuttle services should contact the hotel where they will staying a few days in advance and inform them of arrival time to the airport and make a reservation.
