It is possible to reach Samui International Airport from the city center  comfortably with hotel shuttles. Alternatively, you can prefer taxis and minibuses. It is also possible to reach the airport by private shuttle vehicles with driver. Renting a car is not just a way to get to the airport, but an option that will add comfort to your entire trip.

Taxi

It is always possible to find a taxi in Koh Samui. However, taximeter devices are not used most of the time. For this reason you should not forget that you have to agree about the fare before taking a taxi. You can negotiate. It is possible to reach the airport in about 40 minutes by taxi.

Motorcycle Taxi

For those traveling with backpacks, there are motorcycle taxis as a more interesting and cheaper means of transportation than ordinary taxis. You have to negotiate and define the fare in advance.

Minibus

You can reach the airport with semi-open pickup style minibuses called songthaew which you can often see in the city center. The fares for these tools are quite low. However, if there is no one but you, the drivers may think that you have rented the car for yourself, and ask for high prices.

If you want to go to the airport with these vehicles which may be of different size, you must make a reservation in advance. Even if these promise a very comfortable journey, they follow a predetermined route unlike taxis.

The cost of reaching the airport with shared minivans from the city center varies between 130 - 200 baht. People on the same route travel together with shared minivans.

If you do not want to travel with people you do not know, you can ask for a private vehicle. Their price varies between 500 and 800 baht. If you are traveling with a crowded group thus a car will be small for you, you can ask for a private minivan. The price is between 800 and 1200 baht.

Hotel Shuttle

Koh Samui is a complete tourism paradise and has many accommodation centers. Almost all of them offer airport shuttle service to their guests. Hotel shuttles are a rather effortless means of transportation and highly demanded by visitors of Koh Samui. In addition to bigger vehicles, the hotels also provide private vehicles. If you want a private vehicle, you must remember to book in advance.

Car Rental

If you want to have a comfortable ride along your Koh Samui trip, you can agree with one of the car rental companies in the city center. Companies offer customers a wide range of vehicles ranging from motorcycles, the most preferred vehicles in the island, to limousines. Whatever type of vehicle you rent, it is important to remember that the traffic on the island is generally intense and that most drivers do not respect the traffic rules.
