About Shijiazhuang
Shijiazhuang, the capital and the largest city of Hebei province of China, is about 280 kilometers from Beijing, the capital city of the country. In the city, which has a population of approximately 10 million people according to the 2010 data, nearly 3 million people live in urban areas. Metropolitan population is known as about 4 million.
The semi-industrialized city is known to have a very rapid growth line, and its population has grown four times in the last 30 years. At the same time, the city, which is the center of transportation routes, is hosting a garrison with the purpose of protecting the capital Beijing. One of the biggest problems in the city is air pollution; this problem is tried to be solved by using gas-fired boilers instead of coal since 2012.
In the city where the semi-arid climate with monsoon rains is experienced, summer months are hot and humid, while the winter months are cold, windy and arid. As the sandstorms from Mongol steppes are encountered in spring, the precipitation rate is also decreasing in these months. Roads, railways and trams are used to provide transportation within the city, while air transportation is provided by Shijiazhuang Zhengding International Airport in the provincial center.
