Macapa, where the equator runs through the middle of the city, is known in the country with the nickname “A Capital do Meio do Mundo” which means “the Capital of the Middle of the World”. Macapa, which is one of the richest cities in the north of Brazil, is located where the Amazon River flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
