Transportation to Airport from Algiers City Center

Houari Boumediene Airport

It is possible to reach Houari Boumediene International Airport from the city center by taking the advantage of bus or metro line. If you prefer a more relaxing and fast journey, you can take a taxi or rent a car.

Taxi

You can easily find a taxi at every corner of the city center. For safety reasons, it is better to take a taxi from taxi stands or you can also ask your hotel to arrange a taxi for you. Bus

If you prefer to travel by public transportation, you can reach the airport by taking a bus from the city center. The buses to the airport depart every 30 minutes and the bus ride takes about one hour. Ticket price is 20 dinars per passenger.

Metro

Although there is only one subway line in Algeria, it is possible to reach the airport by taking the advantage of this line. Metro ticket is more expensive than the bus ticket. You need to pay 50 dinars for the one-way ticket.

Rent a car

There are offices of many local and international car rental companies in the city center. Your hotel can also help you with this. Publicly known as Algiers International Airport, Houari Boumediene International Airport is located 20 kilometers southeast of Algeria. The airport serves its passengers with two terminal buildings, one for domestic flights and one for international flights.

In addition to restaurants and cafés, there are various services such as pharmacy, bookstore, hairdresser, currency exchange office and ATM at the airport. There a lounge available for passengers who don't want to sacrifice their comfort while waiting for their flight. If you need to do shopping, you can visit the duty-free store and souvenir shops. Despite all, there is no wi-fi internet access throughout the airport.

Metrobus

The metrobus only accepts ‘punch cards’, or cash, and because change is not provided, it is advisable to pay the exact amount. The driver can provide you with a card that needs ‘topping-up’ for a fee of 75 cents.
