Situated in the north of Sindh, where Karachi, one of the most important port cities of Pakistan, is also located, the city has been producing horses for the British Crown since the day it became a part of the British Empire. In Jacobabad, where shows with horses and cattle are organized annually, especially mounted police unit horses and knight horses are produced. There is also the grave of the General Jacob in the city, named after General John Jacob, who built the city on the Khangarh village. The tomb is located under the Tower of Victory, which is one of the city's most remarkable structures. Another attractive structure of the city is the federal police station.
The city, which the Pakistan Railway going to Baluchistan, Bombay, Karachi and the north of the country passes through, is also the intersection of many trade routes. There is also a commercial and military purpose airport in the city. The Shahbaz Pakistan Air Base and Airport, located 5,5 kilometers east of the city, is used by USA forces carrying out operations in Afghanistan in addition to local flights and national combat aircrafts.
