Transportation to Airport from Bangkok City Center

Suvarnabhumi Airport

Thailand’s capital Bangkok is one of the most important tourist destinations in the Asian continent. The city, which hosted over 25 million tourists last year, has 2 airports. The Suvarnabhumi International Airport opened for international travel in 2006. The city’s first airport, Don Mueang International Airport, is a regional commuter flight hub and low-cost airline hub.

Suvarnabhumi International Airport handles the largest amount of international passengers entering the city, handling over 53 million passengers in 2012. Bangkok is a city with a population of 8 million. Like other South Asian countries, transportation within the city can be chaotic. However, transportation to and from the airport is extremely advanced and comfortable.

Suvarnabhumi International Airport

Rail

You can take buses 201 and 503 from the Royal Palace, National Museum, and Phara Nakhon, the historic city center, to Phaya Thai Station. From this station you can get to the airport in 17 minutes.

You can also get on the express line at Makkasan Station. Other lines take about 30 minutes to get to the airport.

Airport Services

There are vehicles that depart from Victory Monument, which is one of the busiest transportation hubs in the city, to the airport every 20 minutes. You can get to the airport using luxury minibuses or buses where you need to connect or transfer in between. Minibuses 550 and 551 will take you directly to the airport. The city of Bangkok experiences extremely hot temperatures and these vehicles were designed taking that fact into consideration. These vehicles are all air-conditioned, providing comfortable transportation for tourists.

Personal Car

From the historic city center (Phara Nakhon) take the Nakhon Sawan or Lan Luang bridges and connect to the Sirat Expressway, which has a toll. From here you need to take Motorway 7, which connects directly to the airport. After reaching the airport you can park your vehicle in one of the three parking lots, which have a total car park capacity of 5 thousand vehicles.

Transportation to Bandar Seri Begawan City Center from Airport

Brunei Intl. Airport

Passengers arriving at Brunei International Airport can use the buses that are located just outside the airport which only carry passengers to the city during daylight hours or you can take a taxi. In Brunei, taxis are much more expensive than buses, but you have the chance to reduce your fare slightly by sharing these vehicles from the airport with other passengers. Apart from taxis and airport buses, in advance you can book a rental car in Brunei and collect your car in front of the airport and take advantage of a journey of around 15-20 minutes to the city center.

Taxi

From Brunei International Airport, whatever time you land at the airport you have a chance to travel to the city center by taxi. The taxi journey from airport to center in Brunei will take about 20 minutes. Although it is only a short distance of 4 kilometers to get to the city center, you may need to pay around 25 Brunei Dollars in a taxi. Despite the short distance in between, the high taxi prices tend to lead visitors to use buses instead of taxis at the airport. However, when considering the options of taking the bus, you should remember that these affordable vehicles only operate between morning hours and 18:00.

Bus

To travel to the city center for cheaper from Brunei International Airport, you can use the buses that transit passengers for just a few Brunei Dollars. The purple coloured buses start their journey towards the city center in the morning. The last bus is at 18:00. After this time if you can not find a bus when you land at the airport, you can look for a taxi or rental car to take you to the city center. It is possible to travel from Brunei International Airport to the city center by using buses 23, 36, 24 and 38. You may be expected to pay for the bus ticket in Brunei Dollars. Therefore, before leaving the airport terminal and taking the bus or taxi, do not forget to convert some of your money into the local currency of the country.

Rent A Car

After landing at Brunei International Airport, those who want to continue to the center with a rental car can choose one of the companies such as Elsie, Hertz, AVIS and Roseraya, which serve those who want to rent a car in the region. Rental car companies are usually located in the city center and not at Brunei International Airport. Therefore, passengers who prefer a rental vehicle should make the necessary rental reservations in advance and inform the rental company about the time they are due to land at the airport.
