Located in Brazil's Piaui state, Alegrete is a small city known for its iron, soybean, shoes and coffee production. A hot and dry climate is strongly felt in this city, with an average yearly temperature of around 18.7 Celsius. The average yearly rainfall amount is around 1640 mm. The Castelo de Alegrete, Fazenda da Cascata Museum, the Natural History Museum, and the Mario Quintana Museum are all important touristic destinations.
In July the city is host to the International Animation Festival and the Pampa Holi Fesitval. The cuisine of Alegrete has a wide variety of influences from different countries and cultures. Spices and coconut milk are used to great effect in many of the dishes. The local regional varieties of coffee are also very fresh and flavourful as well.
While there are not many normal nightclubs in the city, the local live music scene still can providely for exciting entertainment options in the evening. The city can be reached by Alegrete Novo Airport.
